This resource contains a sample exposition text around the theme of super foods. It has been used successfully with an EAL group as a pre-curser to the WJEC GCSE English topic of exposition writing, but it could also be used as a whole class, stand alone lesson for Key Stage 3 and 4 students. It can be used with a wide range of EAL pupils. Those who are New to English can recognize key words, match foods and improve their vocabulary. Key words have been translated into Hungarian, Romanian, Czech, Polish, Arabic and Cantonese- allowing multi lingual access for a range of pupils in the class. Also contains a writing frame outlining the key features, purpose and structure of an exposition text.

EAL/SEN - New to English, Reading, Writing and Vocabulary Development

(0)
A set of 10 workbooks incorporating phonological awareness, vocabulary development, phonics, reading and writing activities for pupils who are new to English literacy, or who are struggling to learn to read and write in English. Each staged work book contains activities which pupils can work through either in a small group or independently. This staged approach differs from other reading schemes in that it systematically introduces vocabulary and sentences structures alongside photo phonics, thus helping to teach language and literature simultaneously. Developed by a practicing EAL advisor, due to a lack of resources available to meet this particular need.
